Letter from Nov 14
Hello!
This week, we saw the gospel change many people. On Tuesday, we met with a new investigator and talked about the Restoration. At the end of the lesson, when we invited her to pray, she said no. After explaining it more, she accepted and in her prayer, she told our Heavenly Father that she is willing to do anything he has planned for her. On Wednesday, we visited with an older man, and he trusts so much in God and relies on his relationship with Him at all times. He accepted the restored gospel, and is willing to come to church. On Thursday, we had a gratitude dinner with the Relief Society, and they took turns sharing what they are grateful for and how the gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed their lives and changed them. On Friday, as we ate dinner with one of our members, she told us that after 10 years, her dad and brother can visit her from Mexico. She testified that now is the perfect time for them to come, because they've been members for almost 3 years. She can now share the gospel with her dad and brother as they visit her home, and see how it has blessed her family. On Saturday, we found a new family to teach, after they have been closed off to accepting missionaries for a good amount of time. Their uncle is a member, and will be so grateful that his family is learning more of the gospel. On Sunday, as we read from the Book of Mormon with a family, everything about them changed. They had a change in desire, and are excited to keep reading from the Book of Mormon. This week, I have come to know my Savior even more as I have been more diligent in my studies. I have studying and applying the scriptures rather than just reading them, and have seen a huge difference. I know that as we have a willing attitude to change, we will be changed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Livin the vida loca!!
Letter from Nov 7
Buenas!
HOLY COW! Halloween was only this last week. Crazy. It feels like it was like 3 weeks ago. How was your halloween? Mine was great. I almost beat all the elders in our zone at a game of Lightening. But the kind where you can come back in if the person who gets you out gets out. Revenge? Is that what it's called? Not sure. BUT I ALMOST BEAT THEM ALL! There was maybe 12 of us playing. That shows you either how good I've gotten at shooting with a mens ball, or how bad all the elders are at basketball in this zone. Or both. It was really fun! We also played Ultimate Frisbee. It feels so good to run again. So then, Hna HS and I started running every other morning for exercise. It's nice. But on Halloween, I did all this running and beating elders with my crocs. It was awesome.
This week I tried Menudo. I TRIED MENUDO! Willingly. All other missionaries are afraid of menduo, or have tried it and think it's really gross. My entire mission I have been dying to try it. We told an Hermana about my desire, and she surprised us last week at church with a tupper ware of menudo! So, this week for lunch, when I was feelin brave, we heated it up, and ate some. I only had a little bit, but I tried it! What is it? It's a soup made with little corn things and cow stomach. So I heated up my tortilla and had it there to help me if I needed to bypass the texture. Surprisingly, the texture wasn't all that bad! The flavor on the other hand, wasn't my favorite. But I tried it! I would suggest it to anyone feeling brave. I don't know where you'll only find a little to try though. Good luck.
Today I was reading in 3 Nephi 1, and something stood out to me that I've never paid much attention to before. This is after Samuel the Lamanite had prophesied of Christ's birth, and the people were starting to get impatient. The bad people started making fun of the believers, and contention and crazy started happening. Nefi was really worried for the people, and prayed for help to know how to guide and help them. As Nefi was praying all day with great faith, the voice of the Lord came to him and said, "13 Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given,and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets.
14 Behold, I come unto my own, to fulfil all things which I have made known unto the children of men from the foundation of the world, and to do the will, both of the Father and of the Son—of the Father because of me, and of the Son because of my flesh. And behold, the time is at hand, and this night shall the sign be given."
Jesus Christ told Nefi to continue faithful and not give up. Jesus Christ told him that he would be coming to earth the next day. How cool! Jesus Christ himself, told him that he would be coming the next day. When the sign of his birth came that night, they knew it was true. I know that if we have the faith to receive answers to our prayers, then we will. I know that Jesus Christ was born to be the Savior of the world and that he set the perfect example of how we should live.

Happy Halloween!!
Letter from Oct 31
BOO! hehe.
I bet y'all look wonderful in your costumes. If my dad is wearing his BYU gear today and calling it his costume, then don't give him any candy.
On Tuesday, we had a great lesson with la familia Mosqueda. It's an older couple who we have been teaching for a few weeks. When we were following up on the commitments at the beginning of the lesson, and the hermana told us that she had read from the Book of Mormon, we were so excited! She not only read, but had marked things that she liked, and kept track of questions she had so she could ask us. She loved the Testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith at the beginning, and was telling her husband all about how an angel visiting the prophet and told him God's plan. She knows that the Book of Mormon is important, and we know that as she continues reading, her desire to follow Christ will grow. We are praying that her desire will lead her to come to church with us, and to realize that she needs to be baptized by someone holding the proper authority. Through just a couple weeks, we have seen the spirit working in them, and they are becoming converted step by step. The spirit and the Book of Mormon change lives, and I'm so grateful for all the opportunities I have had to witness this change in people.
Our ward party this week went really well. There were a lot of tacos, really loud music, and a lot of nonmembers there! A good amount of the members actually dressed up and they all looked great. It was an awesome way to bring everyone together, and have some fun! The nonmembers that were there all really enjoyed it, and so hopefully we'll be seeing them for a Sunday service. I had real life tres leches cake, not the kind from Cafe Rio, and it was amazing. You can tell that the members love each other and are a family. That's how it should be! I'm excited to get to meet the new ward and see how the ward family is doing. Even if I won't be there for a long time, I'm gonna be best friends with all the ward grandmas. Being a missionary has taught me so much in being a better member of the Church of Jesus Christ. I'm excited to put into practice the things I've learned in my own wards.

Hello!
Today during my studies, my brain started wandering as I was studying about the Book of Mormon. I had a huge thought process and I had starting thinking about the chain reactions that occur because God loves us. After a couple minutes, I shook myself back into studying, but then realized that those thoughts that I had were actually important. I then took the time to write down my whole thought process, and felt the spirit so strongly. I know that we receive personal revelation from the spirit. That the spirit enlightens and helps us in times of need. Even though my studies didn't go as originally planned, I was strengthened and comforted, and feel prepared to teach our lessons tonight. I know that Heavenly Father loves us. I know that Jesus Christ set the perfect example and wants us to be happy. I know that the Holy Ghost testifies of them both, and guides us in following them.

Foggy Froggy!!!!
Letter from Oct 17
Bonjour!
A few different days this week, it has been so foggy. But then you remember that it's not fog and it's just gross air that you can actually see. I have attached a picture to show you an example of one of the mornings.
Last night we had a very interesting lesson! It was with a man named Ignacio. He is older, and a very faithful Seventh Day Adventist. He let us in and allowed us to start sharing our message. I say start, because he pulled out his Bible and wouldn't let us talk. It was difficult, and we tried resetting expectations a few different times. We had a member with us, and she kept trying to get a word in as well. The spirit wasn't very strong, and we all didn't know what to do. We were eventually able to teach and testify of the Restoration of the gospel, the priesthood, and of the Book of Mormon. He accepted a Book of Mormon, and then continued trying to teach us. At the end of the lesson, we sang a hymn, because that is always a great way to invite the spirit, and invited him to say the last prayer. The spirit was so strong as we sang, and during his humble prayer. I am grateful that we were able to leave his house on a good note, and that the spirit was strong. He isn't prepared at this time, but I know the spirit touched his heart, and a seed has been planted.
Since we had General Conference and then Stake Conference, yesterday was the first time back that we had to take the sacrament. Three weeks is a long time to go without the sacrament. For the week between the two conferences, I was challenged to prepare for the sacrament daily. Each day, I would pray and ask how I could improve, and asked for forgiveness for my weaknesses of that day. I was focusing more on remembering Christ at all times, and studying more about Him, his teachings, and his Atonement. This challenge turned into a two week thing, and will now be something that I do each week and each day. As I prepared daily for the sacrament, I was able to recognize the difference yesterday. I felt the spirit stronger, I thought more of our Savior, I was reminded of my covenants and have a stronger desire to be more conscience of them at all times. I know that the sacrament is a sacred ordinance and that it is necessary in helping us return to Heavenly Father for eternity.
I hope you are all preparing for Halloween. If your ward is having an activity, invite someone to it! Whether they are not members, less active members, or friends. Try to invite someone in the first two categories first, and then invite a friend. Fun activities are a great way to show everyone that we are normal people and enjoy having fun, eating, and making new friends.

Paciencia!
Letter from Oct 10
Hi, hi!
The weather is cooling down, and it is beautiful. Fall in California is so great, because it's not cold, but there is still a feeling of fall in the air. I love it here.
Last night, we had a member come out with us to try and visit a whole bunch of potentials. Unfortunately, no one was home, or no one had time, but it was fun having the help of Hermana Marquez. She doesn't speak english, but we know that her testimony is strong and so we still wanted her help. We met 2 men that have very strong faith. They are close friends with members of the Church of Jesus Christ and they agree with almost everything that we teach.The only thing holding them back is the Book of Mormon, but he admitted himself that it's probably because he doesn't know much about it. We had Hna Marquez testify of how the restored gospel has blessed her life, and the spirit was invited so strongly. She spoke in Spanish with confidence to these men, and they listened as if they understood what she was saying. Hna HS translated for them, and then they really understood. I know that the spirit softens the hearts of God's children, and I know that he softened the hearts of these men. They accepted the invitation of having the english elders over to help them understand more about the Book of Mormon.
So this week, we had Stake Conference. It was wonderful! The focus was service. There are so many different ways that we can serve everyone and anyone, and we should always be looking for service opportunities. We can do physical service projects, we can listen to people when they need someone to talk to, we can serve in our callings, we can serve in the temple, we can serve in the home, and we can serve literally any where we go. So why don't we do it more often? I have learned so much as to how to be a member missionary, and I know that it can start with service. I plan to look for different service opportunities for the rest of forever and I would love your help in doing so.
For the Sunday meeting of Stake Conference, there was supposed to be a room for the members of our ward so it could be translated and they could actually understand. Well there was a room set up with a TV, but there was a whole bunch of english people in there and no translator. So, as missionaries, we stepped up to the plate and took on the job of translators. Hna HS, Elder Gibson, and I took turns translating the talks, for our group of 5 members who didn't understand a word of english, and it went great! The room was still full of english members, but we sat on our side of the room and translated for our little family. Elder Beal would've taken a turn, but he's only been out 10 weeks and doesn't feel that his spanish is strong enough yet... I told him he would've been fine, but there's always next time. I have never translated before, and so I jumped in with full faith and trust in Heavenly Father and his gifts. Through Him, I was able to translate the talks. It was so fun! I learned that I can translate. Of course, there were still a few words that I didn't know, or it was a little fast at some times, but I was able to keep up fairly well, and I felt the power of the spirit working through me to help our members learn from Stake Conference. I know that Heavenly Father knows us personally. I know He loves us. I know he will help us at all times as we desire to do His will. I am so grateful for every experience I have had as a missionary, and am excited for the many more that I will have for the rest of my life.
I have learned a lot about patience recently, and have noticed that it's a characteristic that we are all working on. In one way or another, we are all striving to be more patient. When Alma is writing to his son Shiblon, he helps him recognize that it is for his patience and trust in God that he can withstand his trials and temptations. I know that as we strive to be patient and trust in God with all things at all times, that he will help us. Pray with faith, be patient, and trust in our Heavenly Father. He knows you can do it.
Alma 38:3-5:
"3 I say unto you, my son, that I have had great joy in theealready, because of thy faithfulness and thy diligence, andthy patience and thy long-suffering among the people ofthe Zoramites.
4 For I know that thou wast in bonds; yea, and I alsoknow that thou wast stoned for the word’s sake; and thoudidst bear all these things with patience because the Lordwas with thee; and now thou knowest that the Lord diddeliver thee.
5 And now my son, Shiblon, I would that ye shouldremember, that as much as ye shall put your trust in Godeven so much ye shall be delivered out of your trials, andyour troubles, and your afflictions, and ye shall be liftedup at the last day."

Conference!

Hello!!
I hope you are all doing well and that you enjoyed Conference weekend.
How was it?! What did you learn? How did you feel?
This time around, I learned a lot about the importance of the Restoration. I was reminded of what I need to do each and every day to be more sincere in my prayers and in my testimony. I was reminded of the importance of daily scripture study and of Family Home Evening. I know that all the commandments and suggestions of the prophets come from God and that they are for our benefit. I know my role as a daughter of God and know what I want to do to be a disciple and example of Christ at all times. I am grateful that we have the opportunity to listen to Gods servants and learn from them and the spirit. I would love to hear about what you all learned!
Everyone always talks about writers block, and says its the most terrible thing. I mean, I'm not even a writer, but I know that I have no idea what to write about today. I went bowling today, and scored 106. I beat everyone on my lane. I had In N Out, so I'm really full. Something is in my eye, just like many other weeks, but I can't touch it because of keyboard fingers. General Conference was WONDERFUL and I can't believe it's already over. Today is a month mark that can not be spoken about because it almost brings tears to my eyes. The high temperature for today is 79. I had my last Multizones conference where tears were actually brought to my eyes. I received a tire and another part of a car and a wooden yard sale sign as prizes from some elders. General Conference was AMAZING. We taught a lot of lessons, invited a lot of people to baptism, and are still working on getting everyone out to church so they can progress towards baptism.
So Multizones. All of the trainings were so wonderful! We learned all that we needed to know to better serve the people in Corona and help them progress. We learned how to effectively give a church tour, and practiced our street contacting with awesome members who came in and helped us. Hna Pena came in and was so happy to help a whole bunch of missionaries who have helped her change her life. When we talked to her later in the week, she asked us if that was an experience that she could share in testimony meeting at church. She's so cute. We also were given deet bug spray, that we have been asked to use every single day. The church is taking a big step to protect the missionaries, and even though we don't really understand why we were given a fancy perfume, we will be using it every day to be obedient and follow the brethrens suggestions. At the Multizone conferences, the incoming and outgoing missionaries are asked to bear their testimony. Since they only happen every other transfer, I gave my outgoing testimony and did it without crying. It wasn't until after I sat down that I lost it. Sister Mullen told me to be happy because I would be home for Christmas, but I told her I didn't want to be. I love you all. But I wanna be a missionary 5ever.

How was it?! What did you learn? How did you feel?
This time around, I learned a lot about the importance of the Restoration. I was reminded of what I need to do each and every day to be more sincere in my prayers and in my testimony. I was reminded of the importance of daily scripture study and of Family Home Evening. I know that all the commandments and suggestions of the prophets come from God and that they are for our benefit. I know my role as a daughter of God and know what I want to do to be a disciple and example of Christ at all times.
